Suspend or Resume an Identity Device

Article summary

If your device is lost, stolen, damaged, or otherwise unavailable, you can suspend it so it cannot grant anyone access to the identity; and from the same interface, you can resume it once it’s ready to be used again.

Tip

If you no longer have the device and no longer want it in your accounts, then opt to revoke the device rather than disable it.

Unsupported Devices

Enabling/disabling Windows Hello for Business is not supported.

Suspend an Enrolled Identity Device

  1. Log into the Unified Portal and navigate to the My Identities page

  2. In the list of associated devices, locate the one that you wish to disable

  3. In that device’s row, open the Actions menu and select Suspend

Modified Experiences

Depending on the types of identities you have, you may be able to suspend the device through various means:

From the expanded view Actions menu

From the expanded view quick actions

  1. Once suspended, the device’s status updates to Suspended

Enable an Identity Device

When you’re ready to re-enable your device, follow these steps:

  1. From the My Identities page, select the device that you wish to re-enable (current status is Suspended)

  2. Either from the device row or in the expanded view quick actions, click Resume

  1. Once resumed, the device’s status updates to Active
