# Recycle a Device

After you revoke a device (invalidate all credentials it contains), you can recycle it for issuance to another user.

## Recycle a Device

1. Ensure the device you want to recycle is revoked from the original user.
2. Connect the device to your machine.
3. In the Unified Portal, from the header, click **Help Desk > Scanner**.  
The **Scanner** page displays.
4. In the **Actions** list, click **Recycle**.  
The device is ready for issuance to a new user.

NOTEIf you are recycling a Yubikey 5, and if the slots are not configured as \"Factory state\" in a Credential Profile in UCMS, then those slots are disabled.
