# Virtual Smart Card Error Message

## Issue

When a user attempts to use a virtual smart card that Axiad does not own, they receive the following error message:

`Error while performing PIV Administration Authentication, Incorrect Admin Key`

## Reason for the Issue

Currently, Axiad is unable to distinguish between a virtual smart card (VSC) issued by us and one issued by a third-party.

## Action to Take

Try reissuing the VSC in Axiad, but select the device that does not include a serial number in the **Available Devices** section.

## Resolution / Expectation

In a future release, we expect to release code that will determine the issuer of a VSC (Axiad or third-party). There is no date for this enhancement yet.
